A fire alarm system has several devices that work together to detect smoke, fire, carbon monoxide and other emergencies and alert people through audio and visual equipment.
These alarms can be activated automatically by smoke detectors and heat detectors, or manually activated with the help of fire alarm knobs in fire alarm activation points. Alarms can be motorized alarms or wall-mounted horns. They can also be speakers through which alerts and then voice messages are sent to evacuate the premises and warn people inside the building not to use the elevators.
Fire alarm speakers can be adjusted to specific frequencies and sound levels, including low, medium and high, depending on the country of use as well as the manufacturer. Most fire alarm systems in Europe have a siren-like sound with alternating frequencies. In the United States and Canada, these devices can have a continuous sound or use different codes, such as code 3. Fire alarms can also be set to different volume levels. Smaller buildings adjust devices with lower volume and larger buildings adjust devices with more volume.
