Opaque alkyd oil paint Hawilux

These paints are called alkyd because their formulation uses alkyd artificial resins. Alkyd paints are made from a combination of a drying oil such as flaxseed or dehydrated castor oil with glycerin (alcohol) and phthalic anhydride (acid). Such a formulation gives the paint very good resistance to alkalis. In these cases, ordinary drying oil is in the form of emulsion or solution in acetone. Alkyd paints are generally slightly resistant to alkalis, but very durable to water. In white coatings, soybean and castor oils with alkyd are used to prevent yellowing of the paint. Alkyd resins are also used as other paint modifiers. These paints are more durable and have better adhesion to surfaces, alkyd paint can be added from 20% to 50% to latex paints.
